With such a phenomenal opening to Altitude on Monday, Tuesday was going to have to work hard to live up to the expectations of the Altitude crowd.
Luisa Omielan warmed up for herself dancing to various smash hits including the subject of her previous show, Beyonce. The Apres Ski show is renowned as a tough crowd, being the most sober one of the night, however Luisa quickly smashed away any reservations by stripping to her underwear and demonstrating her intense love for her own body, to which the audience responded with glee. Her hour long show was filled with motivational messages related to her personal experiences and she was not afraid to demonstrate. Her hilarious tales made it an awesome start to the night.
Next was the Gala Show, with Stephen K Amos taking over hosting duties having delivered an incredible set the previous night. He welcomed out the first act in style, and Alex Edelman took to the stage. The ex-KFC employee and lover of Greggs pastries delivered an impeccable and witty set of stories based on his life as a Bostonian living in New York, and travelling around the world. The crowd loved him.
Then it was time for Katherine Ryan. Connecting with the audience from the off with a comical understanding of British culture, Ryan dropped in gags around Peter Andre, Cheryl Cole, Taylor Swift and Mo Farrah. Her piece on fanmail and the perils of being a single female comedian was a laugh-a-second!
After the interval and Stephen K Amos staying on stage for as long as he possibly could, Michael Mittermeier in true German tradition, emerged towel in hand ready to reserve his spot in Altitude history. He flawlessly entertained the English speaking crowd with hilarious stories of his childhood and German attitudes to the Second World War, revealing that he studied guilt as a subject, and shame on Fridays!
And if those sensational three acts weren’t enough, the formidable partnership that is Abandoman appeared. Crowd integration is the aim of the game, and Abandoman certainly win. The fast thinking improv lyrics provided a brilliant melody to the hip hop inspired musical backing. With seemingly little to work with, Abandoman create tunes that will not only be stuck in your head for weeks, but they will also make you ROFL!
After the dizzying heights of the Gala Show, it was then to The Arena for the Late Night Show where Alfie Brown, Alex Edelman, Amy Howerska, Jamali Maddix and Jenny Bede entertained the by this point inebriated and feisty crowd. Matt Reed tamed them skilfully and brought to an end another fantastic day of Altitude’s 10th birthday!
Wednesday is now in full swing, come back this time tomorrow for another rundown of all the action including Abandoman, Beardyman and Michael Mittermeier!
