Everything You Need to Know Before You Go!

It’s not long now until the first ever Altitude Christmas – so to get you excited and feeling prepared – here’s everything you’ll need to know before heading out to this year’s festival!

If you’ve booked a package with Crystal Ski Holidays

Your Crystal rep will explain all the details of your accommodation, transfers, ski hire and ski passes and any extras that you may have arranged with them during your journey from the airport to Mayrhofen. They will direct you to the Europahaus to collect your Altitude wristbands, brochures and to meet the Altitude team. Please ensure you have printed copies of any booking confirmations with you to exchange.

Collecting your Altitude Christmas tickets

If you have booked your Altitude Christmas tickets through Ticketline, or any other on site ticket reps, then head to Altitude HQ in the Europahaus with a printed copy of your e-ticket. The lovely team there will then exchange this for your week wristband and provide you with a free brochure guide to all the activities on offer at the festival. This is the place to ask any questions you may have about the locations for the events, artists or Mayrhofen itself. They will be more than happy to help in any way they can!

VIPs will also be able to exchange your e-ticket for your VIP wristband in the Europahaus, where the Altitude team will fill you in with all the details for the Clown Hill race and press party. They will also provide you with your Altitude T-shirt, your drinks vouchers for the week and any information that’ll help you to have an amazing time!

Purchasing Tickets

Day tickets and individual show tickets will be available for purchase on the doors of the Altitude Christmas venues and from the Europahaus. If you decide that the VIP experience is the one for you (we will explain all about the amazing extras VIPs receive when you arrive at the Europahaus to collect your accreditation) then VIP upgrades are also available to purchase from the Europahaus.

Europahaus Opening Times

Saturday 10th December – 11am – 6pm

Sunday 11th December – 11am – 6pm

Please check within the Europahaus itself during the week for any changes to the below opening times:

Monday 12th – Friday 16th December – 9am – 11am and 15:00 – 20:30pm

Advent in the Forest Opening Times

Advent in the Forest takes place in the beautiful Scheuling Forest just a short walk from the centre of Mayrhofen. You can be directed by the Altitude team or by anyone in the resort itself. It is open:

Thursday 08.12.16 – 2pm – 7pm

Every Friday & Saturday in December – 5pm – 9pm

Sunday 18.12.16 – 2pm – 7pm

Ski Slopes Opening Times

You can ascend up the mountain daily from 08:30am, and 16:30pm is the last lift descent. (This final descent time is strict – we found out the hard way so give yourself plenty of time to get down the mountain or risk a very cold, dark night up there!)

Ski Passes

If you have booked these through Crystal, your Crystal rep will fill you in on how and where to collect them when they meet you at the airport. You can buy various different ski passes dependent on how often you will ski and which mountains you would like to ski on. If you are likely to ski every day and want to have access to all of the Zillertal mountains, then the Super Ski Pass might be the best option for you.

If you think you will only head up once or twice then you can also buy individual day ski passes, either in advance or at the bottom of the ski lifts. If you aren’t a skier or a boarder but would like to head up anyway to enjoy the views and the booze, then you can also buy walkers passes, which grant you access to the mountains but not the other chair lifts on the slopes.

The incredibly lovely people at the Hintertux Glacier are offering discounted ski passes for Altitude-goers on Wednesday 14th December to join us for the events that are taking place up there that day. The Hintertux ski pass on that date will be available to Altitude goers at a discounted rate of 23 euros instead of 51 euros. We will give you all the information on how to redeem this when you arrive at the Europahaus to collect your accreditation.

Ski Hire and Lessons

If you’ve never skied or boarded and are keen to try – just ask in Altitude HQ for some recommendations on where the best instructors and ski hire shops are. Everything is available in the resort and the Altitude team would be more than happy to help hook you up with the best on offer.

Local Shops

There are plenty of great independent shops in Mayrhofen selling local produce and delicacies. The main supermarket in the resort is Spar – opposite the Strass Hotel and Penken ski lift. It is open from 7am – 7pm Monday to Friday, 7am- 6pm on Saturday and on Sundays operates with reduced opening hours/often remains entirely closed for the whole day – meaning you may have to wait until the Monday to stock up on all your essentials. So we recommend that if you are arriving on Sunday, bring anything you can’t live without with you! You will find that the majority of the shops in Mayrhofen, including ski/snowboard hire outlets will be closed on Sundays.

Full Programme

The full week programme now available on our website www.altitudefestival.com/programme and can be found in the free Altitude Christmas brochure that you will receive when you collect your accreditation.
