This Time Next Week…Wednesday!

This time next week we’ll be half way through Altitude Christmas! We’ll probably be a little battered, bruised and broken after a few too many (thousand) Jägermeisters, so an early visit to local God of the meats Hans the Butcher will provide a medicinal cure. Ask him for a recommendation and he’ll be sure to give you the most delicious, generous portion of über tasty (sometimes unidentifiable) meat you’ve ever had in your life. Hangover sorted!

At 9.30am, the coach will depart from the Strass hotel, to shuttle us all over to the Hintertux Glacier together. This is going to be a day like no other! (Click here for more information on ski passes for the Hintertux). We can’t believe we’re saying this, but at 11am we’ll be skiing with the absolutely legendary Eddie the Eagle!

After recovering from the excitement of skiing with an Olympic hero, by 12pm we’ll be ascending to the viewing platform at the highest point of the Hintertux Glacier - 3250m to be exact – for the World’s Highest Silent Disco! Travelling over from Holland – The Original Silent Disco are bringing their DJs and headsets to have you dancing at a dizzying Altitude to the backdrop of the best views you’ll have seen in your life.

If all that dancing makes you hungry, we’ve been lucky enough to have sampled the delights of the restaurants on the Hintertux and can ensure you that the food is absolutely delicious. The huge burning log fires add a touch of magic to the whole dining experience and there’s even a great veggie selection for any non-meat-eaters among you!

At 4pm we will depart from the Hintertux Glacier and head back to Mayrhofen. Don’t worry – you won’t be the only one still covered in snow as we arrive at the Strass Sports Lounge for the second apres-ski hour hosted by The International Impro Comedy AllstarsThey’ll be joined by a special guest (a brave and unsuspecting comedian not necessarily accomplished in improvisational comedy…) to kick off the laughs for the day.

After you’ll likely want to head for some more dinner – maybe to Tiroler Stuben for one of their famous cheese/meat fondues! Centrally located and an in-house restaurant of Landhaus Carla, the food here is super reasonable and is a treat to your taste buds – this place is a must visit restaurant whenever you’re in Mayrhofen.

Finally at 8.30pm, The Arena will be our venue for the evening’s gala show – with your MC, the amazing Barry Castagnola. This is going to be an absolute Altitude first as NONE of the acts on the bill have ever performed with us before! This is one of the only festivals internationally that these clowns haven’t conquered so we’re in for a great night. We guarantee that you’ll be left in tears of laughter in the hands of the utterly hilarious Lou Sanders, have your sides split by our favourite Canadian Glenn Wool, and be quoting Aussie genius Nick Cody long after the festival endsThere’s more acts on the bill still TBC too!

We’ve got a relatively late start on Thursday so you might want to get an early night (*tehehehe*) and rest up for a full day of skiing or boarding! Or you could party the night away and treat yourself to a lie in. We won’t judge! But remember that apparently Santa sees you when you’re sleeping, and knows when you’re awake…scary.
