THE PERFECT ALPINE SETTING

The setting of a festival can make or break the experience, and Altitude is fortunate to have a truly remarkable backdrop. From the majestic alpine peaks to the snow-covered plateaus, the fragrant pine forests to the 200-year-old traditional wooden barns, Altitude is a feast for the senses. And let's not forget the pièce de résistance - a nightclub constructed entirely from snow! But the real star of the show is the skiing: with hundreds of kilometers of pistes, Austria's steepest slope, a 3286m glacier, and an award-winning terrain park, Altitude is a powder-lover's paradise.
PAMPER PARADISE
Mayrhofen, a picturesque village in the Austrian mountains, is not only home to Altitude festival but also boasts one of the most luxurious spas in the region. Most of Altitude's hotels have fantastic spas, including rooftop hot tubs with panoramic views of the stunning mountain peaks and Moroccan-themed pools and relaxation rooms. Festival-goers can enjoy seven different types of sauna before watching the headline comedian or indulge in a rejuvenating selection of detox/pre-tox treatments or simply relax and meditate in the Zen garden.

The ultimate pampering experience can be found at the Hotel Strass Wellness area, a haven of peace and recuperation with two floors of serenity in the snow. This spa has been named one of the top ten spas in the world by Cosmopolitan and is a favourite of health guru Carole Caplin. It features a Moroccan-themed marble design, spacious retreat, and relaxed outdoor gardens with panoramic views of the amazing landscape. The Strass Spa offers a wide range of facilities and treatments, including a finish and bio sauna, steam bath and inhalation cave, Hamam, Thalasso and saltwater pool, and underwater massage and a healing bath.

The Austrians excel in wellness as much as in winter sports, and the Alpine O2 fills your lungs with life-affirming spirit and delivers oxygen to your aching limbs and muscles. Take a stroll through the silent, cathedral-like pine forests that enclose this chocolate-box resort, or follow the flow of the Ziller river. Mystical Mayrhofen is energized by its location at the point where four valleys meet, each one shepherding a river that converges to create a natural energy. The skyline is dominated by the Grundberg mountain, with a glacial feature that resembles a perfectly shaped heart. The locals believe that if you kiss someone during a full moon below the 'heart of the mountain', they will never forget you.

Everyone who visits Mayrhofen returns with a tan, not an orange, “straight outta Loughton High St” ghastly complexion, but a healthy glow caused by feeling the warm spring sunshine through an unpolluted atmosphere at altitude. Half an hour on your balcony is enough to get that bronzed and beautiful look. The majority of the rooms at Altitude come with a private balcony, allowing you to get that all-over glow or enjoy some 'al fresco' action.

Altitude is the only festival in the world that comes with a 'mud-free guarantee'. Festival-goers can enjoy a rooftop Jacuzzi rather than a draughty tent or cold shower block.
