FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When and where is the Altitude Comedy Festival taking place in 2026?

We're rolling into Mayrhofen, Austria, at the end of March 2026. Our dates are to be announced very soon.

Who are the featured comedians at the festival?

We have a line up full of world-class English-speaking comedians performing at the festival every year. You'll see the hottest newcomers and world-renowned comedians who usually sell arenas. We announce these acts throughout the year on our social platforms and on our line up page.

What sets the Altitude Comedy Festival apart from other comedy festivals?

Answer: We're not just comedy; we're comedy with Altitude! Picture world-class comedians cracking jokes with majestic mountain views. The resort is tiny, so you end up on holiday with the comedians for a week creating amazing memories. We're family run too so there's an atmosphere like no other as we really put our hearts and souls into this festival.

Are there activities for non-skiers or non-boarders at the festival?

Answer: Fear not, snowphobes! When you're not chuckling, you can spa, dine, paraglide, trek, toboggan, try schnapps, strudel, or cheese in various forms, and so much more. We'll keep you entertained, whether you're carving the slopes or your plate! Lots of our audience & performers are non-skiers and they have absolutely loads to do to keep them coming back every year.

How can I purchase tickets for the festival?

Answer: Secure your spot in the laughter avalanche by snagging your tickets at our official festival website, Altitude Festival.

Super Early bird and Early bird tickets have flown the coop, but our General onsale are still waiting to hatch - get 'em while they're hot!

It is still a helluva lot less per show than most other comedy festivals, with even more laughs! (in the Austrian Mountains)

What does a VIP Ticket get you?

Answer: Oh, buckle up, because VIP status isn't just a title, it's a comedy companion on steroids! With the VIP wristband strapped on, you'll be living the high life. Picture this: a bottle of wine or enough beer (4 beers) to quench the thirst of a whole comedy troupe at every Gala Show. Plus, forget about playing musical chairs - you've got reserved seating at every venue, ensuring you'll always have the best seat in the house. And what's a VIP experience without some swag? Slip into an exclusive Altitude T-shirt that screams "I'm here for the laughs!" But wait, there's more! Rub elbows with the comedic elite at a swanky Meet & Greet soirée, where the jokes flow as freely as the free drinks and Hans the Butcher treats. And if you've got a need for speed, rev up your engines for the Clown Hill race - because in the race of laughs, VIPs can take the gold prize (a traditional Mayrhofen Cow Bell)!

Is the VIP upgrade worth it if I don't drink?

Answer: Absolutely! Even if you're not sipping on schnapps, our VIP package is like winning the comedy jackpot! From racing comedians down Clown Hill to snagging the best seats in the house and scoring a free t-shirt, it's a comedy extravaganza you won't want to miss. Plus, who can say no to a VIP Meet and Greet with free food? It's like a buffet of laughs!

Are the venues accessible/wheelchair-friendly?

Answer: We're all about inclusivity and making sure everyone can join the laughter train! Our venues roll out the red carpet for wheelchairs, and our team is always on hand to assist. Just give us a heads-up by dropping a line to festivals@getcomedy.co.uk, and we'll make sure your comedy journey is smooth sailing from start to finish!

Who founded the Altitude Comedy Festival, and when did it start?

Answer: In a galaxy not so far, far away (actually, in 2007), comedians Marcus Brigstocke and Andrew Maxwell gave birth to the Altitude Comedy Festival. It's been a barrel of laughs ever since!

Where can I find photos and videos from previous festivals?

Answer: Dive into our treasure trove of festival memories in the Gallery Page here. It's like a visual feast of laughter, and you won't even need a fork!

Are there any official social media channels for the Altitude Comedy Festival?

Answer: You betcha! We're all over the interwebs, sharing giggles and gags on Facebook (Altitude Comedy Festival), Twitter (Altitude Comedy), and Instagram (Altitude Comedy). Use #AltitudeFestival24 and #AltitudeComedy to join the comedy circus!

What time do the shows actually start?

Answer: It's showtime, baby! The comedy extravaganza kicks off with the Apres Ski Show at the Strass Hotel at 5:30 pm, setting the mood for laughter and alpine adventures. Then, get ready for the Gala Show at the futuristic Europahaus at 8 pm (or Strass Hotel on Friday), where the comedy magic reaches new heights. And for the night owls, The Late Show starts at 11 pm back at the Strass Hotel. So grab your popcorn and get ready to laugh till the cows come home.

Can I refund my ticket if I can’t make it?

Answer: Ah, the age-old dilemma of missing out on the laughs! While we can't promise you a refund, we're suckers for a good sob story. If you're extra charming, we might just let you roll your ticket over to the next year's comedy cavalcade. Just remember, all tickets are as non-refundable as a comedian's bad joke!

Are there any discounts for group bookings?

Answer: Group bookings? Sounds like a party waiting to happen! If you're herding together more laughter-loving buddies than you can count, shoot us an email at festivals@getcomedy.co.uk, and we'll see if we can't rustle up a deal that'll make your group chuckle all the way to the show!

Are there discounts for locals?

Answer: Yup, Mayrhofen locals get some extra love. Bring your local ID and proof of residency to our Altitude HQ, and our box office wizards will hook you up. It's like a secret handshake for residents!

Is there a preferred ticket vendor for the festival?

Answer: Tickets are hotter than a jalapeño pepper at a chili cook-off, and you can get 'em at Ticketline. Hurry, before they vanish faster than a magician's rabbit!

What types of accommodations are available in Mayrhofen for festival-goers? Are there any recommended options or partner hotels?

Answer: You're in luck! Next year, we've partnered with a few companies who offer the full festival package. Let them be your festival fairy godmother! Want to do it all yourself? Good on you! You can find more information on our Booking page here.

What is the best way to travel to Mayrhofen, Austria, for the Altitude Comedy Festival? Are there any recommended airports or transportation services?

Answer: Whether you're flying in like a superhero to Innsbruck (just 50 minutes away) or taking a leisurely road trip from Munich (only 3 hours), we've got you covered. You can even hop on a magical train through the Austrian valleys with mountains on both sides. It's so picturesque; you'll think you're in a postcard!

Are there any family-friendly activities in Mayrhofen for festival attendees traveling with children?

Answer: While our comedy shows are recommended for ages 16 and up, Mayrhofen itself is a family-friendly winter paradise. There are pools, play areas, and even skiing lessons for kids as young as 3. There’s escape rooms, indoor crazy golf, arcades, and even a dairy where you can meet the animals and try their cheeses and yogurts. Our new favorite is the Erlebnisbad Swimming pool with its flumes and water rapids. It's the perfect way to tucker them out early so you can enjoy the comedy shows!

Can you tell me more about the "Clown Hill Race" mentioned in the VIP package? What's involved, and what's the prize for winning?

Answer: The Clown Hill Race is like the Winter Olympics, but with more clowning around. VIP wristband holders get to race the comedians down the mountain, and the winner gets a local novelty souvenir personally chosen by Andrew Maxwell. It's the race of a lifetime!

Is there a schedule or program available that outlines the specific comedy show lineup and other festival events?

Answer: The program will be available two weeks before the event. You'll also receive a brochure with all the juicy details when you grab your wristband. It's like getting a treasure map to the comedy goldmine!

Are there food and beverage options available at the festival venues? What about dietary restrictions or special requests?

Answer: Austrian food is so good; you might just cry schnapps tears of joy! And speaking of schnapps, there's plenty of that to go around. Plus, if you have dietary restrictions, just let us know, and we'll whip up a comedy feast fit for a king or queen!

Is there allocated seating at the comedy shows?

Answer: VIPs get the royal treatment with their own thrones (not literally), but for the rest, it's a race to the laughter land. It's like a comedy free-for-all, and the early bird gets the worm...or, in this case, the best seat in the house! So lace up those comedy shoes and get ready to claim your spot in the laughter arena!

Can I pay by card for tickets at the festival?

Answer: While comedy and cards are a fun pair, our festival tickets like to be paid for with good old euros. So make sure to have some cash on hand to snag your pass to laughter heaven.

How much are ski passes and where do attendees get them?

Answer: Ski passes are available on the Mayrhofen website or from the lifts in resort. Ski passes get cheaper as the day goes on so we tend to purchase them day by day in resort. You can buy either a ski pass for full mountain access or a pedestrian "walkers" pass, if you're not skiing but fancy going up the mountain for lunch or a show.

Does the ticket to the Altitude Comedy Festival include ski passes?

Answer: Sadly, no. The festival ticket is your passport to laughter, but you'll need to buy a separate ski pass to ride those alpine waves. Skiing on laughter alone is not recommended.

Can I buy tickets on the door to the show?

Answer: Absolutely! If there's room and the show's not bursting at the seams, you can waltz right up to the door and snag a ticket. Just follow the sound of laughter and the scent of popcorn.

Can I buy day/show tickets or just a full week?

Answer: We'll release day and show tickets a few weeks before the festival. But until then, it's full-week tickets that will grant you the golden access to our comedy treasure trove.

Can you provide details on the venue or venues where the festival will take place in Mayrhofen?

Answer: We've got two main venues at the Strass Hotel - one for the early birds at 5:30 pm and one for the night owls at 11 pm. And the Gala Show? Well, that's just a short 5-minute waddle from the Strass Hotel. No need to bring a GPS!

What are the best transfer/transport options from Innsbruck to Mayrhofen for the festival?

Answer: If you're coming from Innsbruck, you're just 45 minutes away from the comedy extravaganza. Munich is an option too, but that's a leisurely 3-hour journey. So, whether you're flying in like a superhero or taking the scenic route, we've got options for all speeds.

What should I pack for the Altitude Comedy Festival in terms of clothing and equipment?

Answer: No need to bring your collection of antique tea cozies. Check out our packing page for tips and tricks. Laughter is mandatory, though.

Is there any snow at that time of year in Mayrhofen?

Answer: We can't control the weather, but we've been blessed with fluffy white stuff for the past few years. And if the skies decide to be stingy, you can always hop on a FREE 20-minute bus to the Hintertux Glacier for some guaranteed snow. It's our backup plan to keep the winter wonder alive!

Can I bring my own food and drinks to the comedy shows?

Answer: While we encourage supporting local vendors and enjoying the culinary delights on offer at the festival, we ask you only bring a snack to munch on during the shows. Just remember to clean up after yourself and avoid any stinky foods or noisy packaging! Local-run bars are available at every venue.

Is there accommodation available within walking distance of the festival venues?

Answer: Mayrhofen is packed with cozy chalets, hotels, and guesthouses, many of which are just a stone's throw away from the festival action. Check out our recommended accommodations on our Booking page for a stress-free stay.

Are there any age restrictions for attending the festival? Can children or teenagers attend the comedy shows?

Answer: While we do suggest everyone should be over 16, keep in mind that our comedy shows can be as wild as a kangaroo on caffeine. So, parental guidance is advised, and remember, laughter is the best age-defying elixir!

Can I bring my furry friend to the festival?

Answer: As much as we love animals, our festival venues are not suitable for four-legged companions. There may be some hotels that are fine with man's best friend, but you’d need to find a sitter for the shows. We promise to provide plenty of laughs to make up for it!

Is there any contact information for media inquiries related to the festival?

Answer: For media inquiries, you can contact Mhairi Vincent, the Festival Producer & Marketing Manager, at mhairi@getcomedy.co.uk
